How smart link routing works

Smart link routing is what makes PostLink different from a standard link-in-bio tool.

The traditional approach: With tools like Linktree, your bio link leads to a page with a list of links. Followers have to scan the list and find the right one. Most don't bother — they bounce.

The PostLink approach: PostLink knows which Instagram or TikTok post a follower just viewed. When they tap your bio link, PostLink automatically redirects them to the URL linked to that specific post. No list. No searching. One tap, right content.

How it works technically: 1. When you link a URL to a post in PostLink, we store that association. 2. When a follower taps your bio link from Instagram or TikTok, PostLink receives referral context about which post they came from. 3. PostLink looks up the linked URL and redirects the follower there instantly (sub-200ms). 4. If no matching post is found, the follower sees your PostLink profile page with all your linked content.

This means: - 80% of followers reach the right content (vs. 20% with link walls) - Your content gets 4x more clicks from the same number of bio taps - You never have to update your bio link — it routes automatically

What happens when there's no post context: If a follower taps your bio link without coming from a specific post (e.g. from search or a DM), PostLink checks for a featured post on that platform. If you've pinned a featured post, it redirects there. Otherwise, it shows your full bio page with all linked content.

Smart routing works with both Instagram and TikTok. Each platform's referral patterns are handled automatically.
